Community Research Ethics Policy Review

Please join Am Johal, the Director of SFU’s Vancity Office of Community Engagement, for a review of the SCA's new Community Research Ethics Policy.

The potential ethical questions involved in producing creative work in the arts are not always immediately obvious but still need to be carefully examined, considered, and addressed. Ethical considerations are especially required when producing work that more directly engages with members of the community. In particular, this kind of ethical review is fundamentally required with respect to working with and around the communities living in the neighborhood known as the Downtown Eastside, which is also home to the School for the Contemporary Arts (and indeed Simon Fraser University more generally).

The SCA's new Community Research Ethics Policy can be downloaded HERE.
