Flexible Educational OpportunitiesThe Faculty of Science builds on Simon Fraser University's reputation for interdisciplinary and flexible learning options by providing a range of programs and opportunities for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our eight departments offer a wide range of programs from quantitative programs like Actuarial Science, to physical science programs like physics to life sciences such as our molecular biology and biochemistry program. For new undergraduate students, our established Science Year One program at the Surrey campus and the emerging cohort program at the Burnaby campus provide even more choice for our students. Multiple Campus LocationsIn addition to our campus on Burnaby Mountain, SFU Science offers programs at our Surrey campus. In addition to our cohort programs for first and second year students and our established degree programs in Industrial Mathematics, Management and Systems Science and Operations Research, a recent announcement of a $10 Million addition to that campus will bring even further opportunities for students to study the physical and life sciences at our Surrey campus. Through our downtown Vancouver Campus, the faculty of science reaches out to the local community through the Continuing Studies in Science programs. Special events, festivals and opportunities to engage in the scientific issues of the day are all aspects of this very popular program. Careers and CoopSFU integrates all of the career services offered to students in our Work Integrated Learning program. This includes our long-standing strength in co-op education in addition to career counselling, volunteer development and more. Our students consistently place with top employers locally, nationally, and globally. SFU Science students have worked as Marine Invertebrate Dive Biologists, Genetic Research Assistants, and Actuarial Analysts. 25% of all undergraduate students participate in the co-op program. International OpportunitiesOUr students enjoy a multitude of international opportunities. SFU Science students have participated in exchange programs across the planet and have participated in international research opportunities, coop placements and volunteer programs in a wide variety of settings.
