Course Description:

The Hyperbaric Medical Technologist program provides the knowledge and skills essential for a person entering the field of hyperbaric medicine. This course will cover the fundamental knowledge on all aspects of clinical hyperbaric oxygen therapy as well as chamber operation. It is taught with both classroom and practical sessions over two weeks.

The first week covers training in the Fundamentals of Hyperbaric Medicine which has been reviewed and approved as a UHMS Designated Introductory Course in Hyperbaric Medicine by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.  Qualified students will recieve 40-hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. 
 The FHM course has also been reviewed and accepted as an Approved Hyperbaric Medicine Training Course by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology (NBDHMT). This allows eligible students to sit the CHT exam after required internships.

The second week meets the required training of a Hyperbaric Chamber Operator, described in section 22 of the Canadian Standards Association's Competency Standard for Diving Operations (Z275.4). Successful graduates can be issued certification as a Clinical Hyperbaric Chamber Operator from the Divers Certification Board of Canada (DCBC).
