Fundamentals of Hyperbaric Medicine in South Africa
September 16 - 20, 2019
Students shall be able to describe the philosophies of the physics, physiology, pathophysiology and the medical aspects of compressing patients and observers within the hyperbaric environment ensuring safe treatment protocol. Students will be able to recognize diving accidents and gain knowledge, performance and competence to safely and efficiently evaluate and medically treat divers, which in turn improves overall patient outcomes and decreases the professional practice gaps.
The Fundamentals of Hyperbaric Medicine has been reviewed and approved as a UHMS Designated Introductory Course in Hyperbaric Medicine by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). Qualified students will recieve 40-hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This FHM course has also been reviewed and accepted as an Approved Hyperbaric Medicine Training Course by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology (NBDHMT). This allows eligible students to sit the CHT exam after required internships.
