Geek Week 2012Geek Out!Geek Week continues with a Science-themed Social!
SCI Crew and the SFSS invite all SFU Students (19+) to a Science-themed social at the SFU Highland Pub. We saw so many new faces and met so many new people during Geek Week and now we'd like to get to know everyone a little better.
When: Friday, February 3, 2012 Where: SFU Highland Pub Tickets: $5.00 Theme: Anything geeky goes! There will be a prize for the best geek costume so be sure to wear your lab coats, safety goggles and suspenders.

Geek is the new Chic!January 23 to 27 - A weeklong shout out to science!
SCI Crew, through the support of the Faculty of Science and the SFSS, is proud to present to you SFU's fourth annual Geek Week! This year's event promises to be bigger and bolder than ever before. Come out and join us as we take over the South AQ Concourse and show the entire school why the staff and students in the Facutly of Science are the best of the best!
Each day from 10:30 to 2:30, Geek Week will be in full swing in the South AQ Concourse. Concourse events include displays, demonstrations and free giveaways presented by faculty and student groups from all over campus. There are several other daytime events occuring around campus that feature the talents and achievements of SFU's very own geeks. Evening events are for meeting fellow geeks and exploring opportunities for the future.

Evening EventsMonday, January 23:Movie Night - Feature film: Contagion. How will the worldwide medical community react when a new virus spreads rapidly through indirect transmission and kills within days? This medical thriller follows the the race to find a vaccine in time to save the human population. Start time is 5:00pm @ SSC C9001 Tuesday, January 24:Green Careers - Have you ever wondered how to integrate your Sciene background into a future that supports environmental sustainability? Individuals (some SFU alum!) working for or in a green career or an organization interested in sustainability have graciously agreed to engage in conversation with SFU students about their careers, educational backgrounds, roles and responsibilities, what they look for in new hires; how to get your foot in the door, career paths in these areas and much more! Companies/Organizations joining us: AFCC Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation Corp., Environment Canada, Hastings Crossing BIA, Perkins + Will Canada, Environmental Services -- Public Works & Government Services and others! Location: WMC Atrium 3rd Floor Time: 3:30PM-5:30PM Wednesday, January 25BPK Careers Night (organized by the BPKSA) - Come and join the BPKSA in meeting with and engaging working professionals in areas relevant to BPK including Medicine, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. This is a chance to get first-hand insight from those who have successfully paved their way from a Bachelor of Science to a fulfilling career. A $2 cover is required and dinner is provided.
