ORDERING KEYS In order to maintain the database for a key inventory designed to meet a wide range of University needs and as our community continues to expand and evolve, it is important to ensure the effective key management processes are in place. The following procedure has been developed with this in mind. To Order a Key: 1. Fill out a Campus Security Key Requisition and ensure that: The key holder’s name, SFU ID number and requesting department are legible on the form. The door number and building name are present. The account code information is filled out (if required). The request is authorized by the departmental signing authority. 2. Mail or hand-deliver the requisition to the Access Control office, WMC 3101. From time of receipt, we require a minimum of 3 business days to process the requisition. During the first few weeks of each semester longer processing times should be expected. 3. Return after 3 business days after 2:00pm (or anytime thereafter) to pick up your key. Bring your identification and funds to cover your refundable deposit fee. We accept Cash, Debit, Visa and MasterCard.
Please Note: We hold the key requisition for 2 semesters. After that time, the requisition is removed. If the key is still required, a new requisition will need to be submitted. Important Notes for Keyholders: 1. A person may have only one key per door. 2. The key may not be passed on to another person. 3. The key remains the property of SFU. 4. The key must be returned to this office ONLY. 5. Lost/stolen keys must be reported to Campus Security immediately.
