SOUTH FRASER REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR

Help us maintain the South Fraser Regional Science Fair for future generations of students
a message from Favian Yee, Chair of the Organizing Committee

The South Fraser Regional Science Fair (SFRSF) is running in its 13th year and has grown tremendously over this time. Our goal is to engage young scientists by fulfilling their curiosities and to succeed in science, technology, engineering and math. Across the years, we have had over 750 students participate in the SFRSF from both public and independent schools in Delta and Surrey. Since our region's first Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF) at Truro, Nova Scotia in 2007, over 94 finalists have participated in the annual national event. The 94 finalists have come from the Delta and Surrey School Districts, and from independent schools within our communities. All of these SFRSF Gold Medal Winners have participated in an all expense paid experience to the CWSF in various Canadian cities.

The CWSF brings together over 450 of Canada's top young scientists and provides unique experiences for them in local culture, introduction to industry experts, and practical experiences in a range of specialized scientific fields. The annual event brings together a larger variety of community organizations that make the CWSF experience memorable for all its participants.

The SFRSF is run by a group of dedicated volunteers within the science education community in Delta and Surrey. The cost of sending one student to the CWSF is approximately $2000. To date, the Science Fair Foundation of BC, the Delta and Surrey School Districts, Southpointe Academy, Simon Fraser University, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and Advanced System Integrators have been our primary sponsors.

We would be most grateful if you would financially support our young scientists in going to the CWSF. This is an opportunity for you to add your name to this distinguished list of sponsors on the SFRSF website. No amount of sponsorship is too small. To support the SFRSF, please go to http://www.sciencefairs.ca/donate/ hosted by the Science Fair Foundation of BC. Please select under the Fund drop-down menu "Science Fairs In the Community", and in the message line below, state that the donation is for the South Fraser Regional Science Fair. In turn, the Science Fair Foundation will disburse the funds to the SFRSF and issue you a tax receipt for your generous donation.
