Upcoming Teaching and Learning Conversations in October

Optimizing Teaching Assistants

October 11 2011
Room: “fishbowl” Room 11002, Blusson Hall, SFU
Time: noon to 1:00, bring your lunch

An experienced or well-trained Teaching Assistant (TA) is an incredible asset to a teaching team. However, training takes time, which is a limited commodity both for the instructor and the TA. In this conversation, we will discuss some strategies for TA management and training, and pinpoint the most basic elements that are required for preparing a new TA.

We would like to hear your thoughts before the conversation! Please go here to share your thoughts on TA management.

FHS lecturer, Andrea Nicki, and Emily Rousseau (an upper division undergraduate student) have been working together to establish a Health Ethics Club.  Andrea will share her experiences, which we can then use as a platform to discuss other approaches to enhancing student leadership and initiative.
