Summer/Fall Co-op position with Volunteer Services

If you are an SFU co-op student, and are interested in getting involved with contributing to SFU Volunteer Services’ mission of empowering students to be engaged citizens, check out our Communications Assistant posting on Symplicity. The position is 2 days/week over the summer and 4 days/week in the fall.

We’re looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and self-directed individual to coordinate key projects and activities for SFU Volunteer Services at the SFU Burnaby campus. Volunteer Services is a fairly new program area on campus and is continuing to grow; because of its small size, there is great opportunity for innovation. The Volunteer Services Communications Assistant will be largely responsible for promoting Volunteer Services at SFU and in the community and planning the Volunteer and Civic Engagement week in the fall semester.

This is an ideal position for those with career aspirations involving the non-profit/voluntary sector, program development, social marketing, or higher education.

Here’s a testimonial from the current co-op student.

I was really able to get my hands into many different projects and gain a lot of meaningful experience. This included strategic planning, social marketing, writing, and design. I was also given the opportunity to tailor the role to fulfill specific learning objectives I had and, as such, attended professional development workshops, developed a marketing plan around social media, and wrote on the topic of youth and civic engagement.
