Volunteer for the Diversity Health Fair and help promote healthy, active lifestyles!

A combination of fun and educational activities, the Diversity Health Fair is a free community event that takes place each Spring, organized by the Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of BC (AMSSA).

The first Diversity Health Fair took place in 2005 and it has since became the largest event of its kind in Canada. This Fair continues to make a positive impact in the community by improving access to health care and resources. The objective is to not only bridge the gap between the public and the health & wellness resources they need, but to educate families about healthy active living.

The Diversity Health Fair is an event where multi-ethnic families and youth can learn about various health programs, from mental health to diabetes. As obesity is one of the main factors in the development of chronic health conditions, the 2010 Diversity Health Fair will focus on the theme of healthy weight from healthy eating and active lives.

Over 50 high profile wellness & health organizations share information in a culturally conscious way by using interpreters or providing resources translated in multiple languages from Chinese and Farsi to Japanese and Spanish. The Fair will also feature multicultural entertainment, fitness and cooking demonstrations, interactive games, health screenings and tests, as well as a kid’s activity area. A new addition to this year’s Fair will be an outdoor activity tent!
