As a volunteer assistant, you would only be needed to contribute 8 hours of your time per week. The job consists mainly of contacting media outlets in Canada and updating them on community listings and public service announcements. More attention will be devoted to smaller local and rural media outlets, such as community newspapers, radio and television stations as well as bloggers and other online channels.
Other basic tasks include researching community calendars related to cities and media outlets and maintaining a database of the program’s mention in the media, from hunting down clippings to building a library of media clips.
By getting involved with the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, not only will you be gaining valuable work experience, you will also be helping your community to keep the beaches clean. If you are interested in this volunteer position, contact Jean.Fong@vanaqua.org.
