Are you interested in volunteering with a charity that helps marginalized women, youth and children? If so, then Beauty Night Society is the perfect choice. This unique charity provides wellness, literacy, fitness, personal and leadership development programs for marginalized women so they can increase their self-esteem and make positive changes in their lives.
One of their most popular events is the makeover program that occurs every Monday evening, usually at the Life Skills Centre on East Cordova. This event provides hair, make-up, nails, facials, massages, etc for women, to help boost their self-esteem in a warm and friendly environment. Volunteers are always needed in various different capacities. Duties include greeting clients, keeping track of client participation in programs, and just interacting with everyone and making them feel welcome. They are also looking for licensed hair dressers, make-up artists, or student nurses and social workers who are able to volunteer during these makeover nights. Detailed information can be found at http://www.beautynight.org/vancouver/?page_id=20.
Since opening its doors on December 15, 2000, Beauty Night has given over 10,000 makeovers and helped brighten the lives of countless women and youth. If you would like to help in this effort and make a positive difference in someone’s life, be sure to check out their website at http://beautynight.org/ and fill out a volunteer application form or send a copy of your resume to firstname.lastname@example.org.
