In two weeks the Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival will soon be upon us and there is still lots left to be done. Volunteers are needed on August 1st to help out with Volunteer Team Lead, the Parade, Wheelchair Accessibility, the Environment, First Aid, Traffic Management, Security, and Set-Up, Teardown.
Pride 2010 had its first volunteer training session on Thursday, July 15th but they still need more help, so new volunteers are welcome and encouraged to attend the second training session that they will be having on Monday, July 19th from 6-8pm at the Creekside Community Centre.
What’s great about being a Pride volunteer is that you get to “be a part of the biggest LGBTQ event in Vancouver and the largest one-day festival in Western Canada!” – VancouverPride.ca
Volunteers get a t-shirt, food and drinks, and are even thrown an appreciation party at the Private Labatt’s Lounge.
The Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival isn’t the only time that you can volunteer. The Vancouver Pride Society is always looking for volunteers to join their ongoing committees. Members from the community are invited to contribute their expertise and knowledge in the areas of: Advertising, Arts & Entertainment, Environment, Festivals & Events, Fundraising, Governance, Graphics, Media, Membership, Outreach, Parade, Web, and general volunteering.
