National Volunteer Week: April 19-24

All you volunteers out there, this is your week.

Volunteer Canada has all the information you need on National Volunteer Week, being held this week in order to celebrate and recognize the invaluable work from individuals all over the country who take time out of their lives to volunteer.

“The economic recession is a difficult time for all of us, “said Ruth MacKenzie, president of Volunteer Canada.  “But many are using this time to roll up their sleeves, share their skills, and better their communities and the lives of others.”

“The National Volunteer Week website is proof that the spirit of volunteerism is alive and well in this country.”

Do you see the spirit of volunteerism alive and well in your community? Volunteer Canada is honouring volunteers this week by posting photos and stories on their National Volunteer Week website. Take a moment and share your experience with them–and us–or go check out some of the stories from other inspirational people across Canada. Alternatively, if you are a volunteer manager, they have some great tips for planning appreciation events.
