SFU Food Bank is Looking For Volunteers

Do you have the love for food? Have you ever wanted to help other SFU students?

On November 22nd to December 13th, the SFU Food Bank will be running its annual Winter Food Drive, an initiative that collects the bulk of donations for the food bank. In 2009, thanks to the generous support of the SFU community, the SFU Food Bank collected over 9,000 food items. This year, the organization is looking for at least 40 volunteers for each day to help collect and sort food donations from the three-week initiative.

If you are interested to help, here’s the information that you need to know.

What: Collect and sort food donations form Winter Food Drive
When: Dec 14th and/or Dec15th 10:00am – 4:00pm (lunch provided)
Where: MBC 2290 and MBC 2292 (SFSS conference rooms behind the photocopiers)
Contact: Email with your availability. More information about these positions are on Symplicity.

To become a volunteer, you don’t need to have strong arms. Just come with your enthusiasm and enjoy the company of fellow volunteers after final exams! Don’t be shy and RSVP today!

If you don’t have time during these two days, there are other ways that you can participate in Winter Food Drive.

Food Donations
Bring cash or non-perishable food donations (see most-needed items) to the SFSS General Office at MBC 2250 or Student Development at MBC 2000 9:00am – 4:30pm

Food for Library Fines
Do you have fines at SFU libraries? Bring non-perishable food donations to the SFU Library’s “Food for Fines”, and each item can remove $2 from your fines up to $20 per semester.

For more information, please visit the SFU Food Bank website. This December, help out the SFU community by volunteering for this wonderful organization.
