Buy a Candy Gram and Support a Local Charity

Remember way back in elementary school when you used to give out cards to everyone on Valentine’s Day?  Well, if you’re feeling nostalgic or just looking for a unique way to convey your feelings on Valentine’s Day, consider ordering a candy gram from A Loving Spoonful.

A Loving Spoonful is a volunteer-driven, non-partisan society that works to provide free meals to people living with HIV/AIDS in Greater Vancouver.  For almost 20 years, their dedicated volunteers have been delivering food to men, women and children who are limited by their resources and/or lack the physical endurance to properly feed themselves.  Research has shown that HIV-related malnutrition is the most common cause of death for people with AIDS than any opportunistic infection.  Their hope is to provide proper nutritional support and to improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from this disease.

You can help support this wonderful cause by participating in their first ever CandyGram fundraiser for Valentine’s Day 2011.  For only $10, choose from 150 different Valentine’s messages and have it mailed for you anywhere in Canada!  The candy gram includes a card with your message of choice, two heart-shaped chocolates from Purdy’s and a $15 gift card from Kiehl’s.  Send them to whoever you like – the possibilities are endless.

And of course, all the proceeds from this campaign will go towards providing meals for people living with HIV/AIDS.  It’s a sweet deal, but because this is the first year for the campaign, quantities are limited.  Only 3,000 candy grams will be available on a first come first serve basis, so if you’re interested, act fast.

To buy a candy gram, visit to order online or call (604) 682-6325.  The deadline to order for Western Canada mailings is February 7 and February 3 for Eastern Canada – it’s set early to make sure all the candy grams are delivered by February 14.

So, support a great cause this Valentine’s Day and do something a little different.  Whoever gets one will be sure to love it.
