is an annual one-day event that brings together student leaders at SFU. This year’s summit featured Steph Tait and Matt Hill of Run For One Planet
as keynote speakers. In 2010’s summit
, Sean Aiken of Global Agents for Change
spoke at the event.
Next year, you can expect another great Leadership Summit. To make that happen, SFU Student Development is looking for volunteers who will help organize the event. Members of the Summit Student Committee will help plan and implement the event and play a significant role in shaping the vision for the conference, recruiting presenters, recruiting volunteers, determining the structure of the day, and promoting the event.
Check our MyInvolvement for these volunteer opportunities:
- Promotion and Marketing Coordinator: develop a promotional strategy for the event, create marketing materials, and use social media to promote the Summit.
- Logistics Coordinator: liaise with SFU staff to plan the schedule, and determine facilities, audio-visual, and spacing needs. This position also entails creating a time line for the event and identifying resources that will be needed to implement the plan.
- Information Coordinator: ensure communication between committee members is clear and committee progress is well documented. This person will oversee the committee’s process, take meeting minutes, establish committee time lines, and follow up on action items.
- Volunteer Coordinator: lead on recruiting, training, engaging and managing student volunteers who will assist with the event.
Please note that these volunteer opportunities have a time commitment of about 8 months — from May 2011 up to late January 2012. In addition to getting training, a reference letter, and an opportunity to meet student leaders and SFU staff, these positions also offer an $800 honorarium for successful applicants who ultimately complete the requirements of the positions.
Consider applying for one of the Leadership Summit Student Committee positions and help plan an outstanding event for SFU students!
