There are so many events from mid-November through the end of December that require volunteer help. If you want to give back around the holidays but find your student budget doesn’t go so far, volunteering is the perfect solution. Jump on any volunteer website right now and you will find loads of opportunities to get involved!
One volunteer position that really jumped out at me was helping out with the 8th Annual Rogers Santa Clause Parade. This year’s parade is on Sunday December 4 at 1:00p.m. The Santa Clause Parade is quickly becoming a Vancouver tradition with the Christmas square full of family activities. A parade takes a lot of coordination so lots of volunteers are needed. Some of the positions include:
If any of these interest you, check out the website and sign up today! If you really want to attend the parade and can’t volunteer don’t forget to bring a donation item for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Bring non perishable foods. Right now the top items needed are high protein items, pasta, diapers, canned hearty soups and baby formula.
So find some time during your Christmas break to volunteer even if it’s only for a few hours. A little goes a long way during the holiday season!
