So, what exactly is Symplicity? Symplicity is the comprehensive online job posting system where job and volunteer opportunity postings from Volunteer Services, Co-operative Education and Career Services are posted. Many students thought they have to be co-op students in order to access these postings, but that’s only co-op jobs! Any SFU student has access to postings from Volunteer Services and Career Services, including you!
What’s so unique about the volunteer opportunities Volunteer Services posts on Symplicity is that staff members actually filter the opportunities they receive from community organizations or SFU departments, clubs and unions and only post those positions that support students with their personal, academic or professional skill development. This way, your contribution of time and effort will be just as meaningful for the organization and for yourself as well!
To get started, go to www.sfu.ca/wil/symplicity and log in with your SFU account and password. Once you get to the Symplicity homepage, select the “jobs & opportunities” tab at the top, and once you’re there select “volunteer opportunity” under position type. And done!
Keep in mind that the volunteer opportunities on Symplicity include special events, short-term and long-term positions. So, whether you are just looking for a low-commitment, one-time event or a long-term position to further a cause you are passionate about, you can surely find something on Symplicity!
