WinterFest
November 19, 2009
Is that snow in the air? Not yet, but it’s coming soon—especially on Burnaby Mountain. And the best place to learn how to prepare for the slippery white stuff is WinterFest, Nov. 23, 10 am–1 pm in the AQ north concourse at the Burnaby campus. Learn about winterizing your vehicle, safe winter driving skills, SFU’s traffic-management measures for severe weather, and more—including what to do if you’re stuck on the mountain overnight because roads are blocked by snow. There is food, prizes (two iPod Shuffles), give-aways and free emergency supplies. There’s also a half-hour presentation on winter preparedness and SFU’s Severe Weather Plan at 12:15 in Halpern Centre, room 126. For more information: www.ehs.sfu.ca/news
