2011’s Top 25 Under-Reported Stories in the Media

SFU-based media watchdog NewsWatch Canada, housed in the School of Communication, has just released its 2011 list of the top 25 most under-reported stories by national media. They include Canada’s secretive negotiations with the European Union for a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement; the lack of accountability for the human rights and environmental abuses that Canadian mining companies are causing abroad; the ways in which corporate lobbying is shaping Canadian and US laws and regulations, and the downplaying of the long-term effects of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
