A team of undergraduate and graduate business students took top honours at the BC Investment Research Challenge regional competition in early March. The finance showdown included B.C.’s top business schools and universities. “To come out on top against some of the best business school minds in B.C. is a testament to the calibre of students and teachers at SFU,” said Sam Thiara, manager, student affairs at the Beedie School of Business.

Adjunct professor Derek Yee and SFU alumnus Jamie Kozak coached the team: Jin Yan, Chris Tse, Lauren Looi, Alex Conconi and economics student Robb Ponti.

In April, the team will compete in the Americas Regional Final in Omaha, N.E., against 40 other universities and sit in on a lecture from billionaire investor Warren Buffett.
