The Residence Dining Hall and students in residence and will take part in SFU’s first composting pilot program. The opt-in program provides a bear- and rodent-proof central composting bin in which students can discard food scraps including meat, dairy, grains, vegetables, tea bags and coffee grounds. The bin’s contents will be collected twice weekly and delivered to a local turf dump. “It’s going to help students think about their impact and the things they can do to make the campus greener,” says student organizer Laura Stewart, adding “it will be an inspiration for the rest of campus.”
