SFU communication professor Richard Smith is the new program director of the four-year-old Master of Digital Media program at Vancouver’s Great Northern Way Campus (GNWC). Smith’s research interests include social inclusion and exclusion brought on by the introduction of digital media, education technology, privacy and public surveillance, online communities and the wireless information society. His projects have explored topics such as privacy issues with mobile technology, electronic scholarly publishing and the development of new technologies for mobile, media-rich and urban shared experiences. GNWC is a private educational enterprise owned and operated by SFU and three academic partners.
