Salt’s impact on diabetes — next café

The next Café Scientifique, featuring SFU and Fraser Health experts, will focus on how salt and blood pressure affect those with diabetes. Biomedical physiology and kinesiology professor Will Cupples will share his latest research Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Central City Brew Pub in Surrey at 7:30 pm. Cupples will talk about how diabetes may impair kidney function, increasing the kidney’s susceptibility to injury. Fraser Health clinical nurse specialist, Marcia Carr, will moderate. On March 7, the final café in the five-part series partly funded by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research will focus on the genetics of sudden cardiac death.
