Vancouver firm Perkins+Will has been chosen as architect for the student union building and stadium project. Known as Build SFU, the $65-million project is a partnership between the Simon Fraser Student Society and the university. “Students told us that this firm best understands the goals and aspirations of the Build SFU project,” says Marc Fontaine, Build SFU manager. “The firm’s commitment to extensive and meaningful student consultation is excellent. We couldn’t be happier to have them on board.” Perkins+Will is now identifying possible sites for the student union building. The stadium will be built at Terry Fox Field. Construction will begin in 2015.
