SFU’s Sustainability Office is inviting SFU community members to join its Talking Sustainability Project, an ongoing dialogue about the kind of world we want to live in and what role the university can play in this transition.

“We want to build a shared understanding of concepts that are core to sustainability,” explains KC Bell, director, Sustainability Office.

“Sustainability is more than just ‘being green’. It’s fundamentally about the interrelationships among the economic, ecological and social foundations of human societies.”

The project features a new blog, Talking Sustainability, which explores what a sustainable culture at SFU and beyond might look like.

There’s also a Sustainability Roadshow to directly engage campus departments and units on sustainability topics related to the university.

Finally, an upcoming contest, The World We Want, will seek short inspirational and educational multi-media narratives on how each of us feel connected to the building of a sustainable world. Presentations may include short videos, photos or written narratives.

Says Bell, “We hope SFU community members will contribute their expertise, opinions, thoughts and ideas to introduce new solutions, conversations and even questions to our conversation on sustainability.”

Check the Talking Sustainability website in June for details of the upcoming World We Want contest.
