Ready, set, reveal! SFU.ca gets a fresh new look
SFU.ca gets a top-level makeover next week with improvements that will make the site more mobile- and user-friendly.
Built using CQ5—SFU’s only fully supported content management system—the refreshed site features responsive design, meaning it will be as easy to use on a large desktop as on a tiny mobile device.
The new, cleaner design includes improved search, enhanced visuals and more intuitive navigation, as well as information portals aimed at specific audience groups such as students, alumni, employers and media.
The project launched formally in October 2012 and has been overseen by the CLF (Common Look and Feel) Advisory Committee, led by Julie Ovenell-Carter in External Relations and comprised of representatives from all three campuses.
Lyndsey Kingston from SFU’s Surrey campus developed the site architecture, while IT Services’ Eryn Holbrook conceived the design with templates developed by colleague Jordan Raine. Veronica Aarstad, formerly with Public Affairs and Media Relations, is now content coordinator for the new site.
The project’s first phase will see the redesign of 40+ top-level “signpost” pages. Over the next several months, most SFU faculties and departments will begin moving their pages into the new design with support from IT Services.
