SFU Dining Services earns national recognition
SFU Dining Services received an honourable mention in the 2013 Quality and Productivity Awards this month from The Canadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO).
The citation recognizes SFU’s successful efforts to completely redesign its Burnaby campus dining program, which has increased student satisfaction from 44 per cent to 74 per cent—without raising prices.
The redesign includes Canada’s first 24-hour dining hall, as well as a dedicated space for student cooking and an all-you-care-to-eat meal plan that replaced a declining balance system.
“Universities across Canada are taking note of the improvements and innovative changes that we have made to SFU Dining Services,” says Mark McLaughlin, executive director, ancillary services, “but the recognition that is dearest to us comes every time we hear "thank-you" from our own students.
“We are busy planning for the fall semester and soon hope to make an announcement that will have an immediate positive impact not only at SFU, but at other campuses right across the country."
CAUBO supports the professional management and effective leadership of administrative affairs at Canadian universities and colleges.
