  • SFU student Jessica Kruger has succeeded in her bid to become the new face of Lise Watier’s “Something Sweet” perfume.Krugerbeat out more than 400 competitors in the online competition to become the perfume’s ambassador.

  • SFU employee Julie Ovenell-Carter was featured on CBC’s Early Edition discussing Translink discontinuing its Employer Transit Pass program.

  • Rick Parent, a former police officer who teaches police studies at SFU, was mentioned in multiple articles discussing the use of citizen videos of police incidents, as in the case of a young man who died after being shot by police on a Toronto streetcar.

ORDER OF B.C. – BURNABY NEWSLEADER

  • Peter Anderson, an associate professor and director of the Telematics Research Lab at SFU, was among 13 appointees to the Order of British Columbia announced by Lt. Gov. Judith Guichon on Wednesday. He is being recognized for his expertise in emergency planning and response.
