  • An op-ed co-written by SFU adjunct professor Jotham Peters and Noel Melton was featured in the Vancouver Sun regarding why the provincial carbon tax is good for your wallet and the broader economy.

SUSTAINABLE PROSPERITY – PROVINCE

  • Nancy Olewiler, director of SFU’s School of Public Policy, was briefly mentioned in an article regarding a national network of environmental and economic professors engaging in the Sustainable Prosperity study, which suggests there has been a 19 per cent decline in B.C.’s fuel consumption since the carbon tax was introduced in 2008.

DNA RESEARCH – LAW TIMES

  • SFU doctoral grad Diane Cockle’s role as a forensic investigator has helped her produce the world’s first comprehensive study of the progression of human decomposition at crime scenes.

BOYCOTT – 24 HOURS

  • SFU marketing professor Lindsay Meredith was mentioned in an article concerning the Vancouver Pride Society pushing to boycott all Russian goods in protest of newly enacted laws in Russia restricting homosexuals from living openly in the country.

ADOPTED CHILDREN – TORONTO STAR

  • Lucy Le Mare, an SFU professor of developmental psychology, was mentioned in an article discussing researchers examining the impact isolation and neglect have on human development by studying Romanian children adopted into Canadian families.

NANOTECH SECURITY – PROACTIVE INVESTORS

  • SFU was mentioned in an article concerning Nanotech Security looking to replace holograms with new KolourOptik platform and disrupt a $2.5 billion market.

  • Recent SFU grad Helen Crofts helped Team Canada score a silver-medal finish on the track in the women's 4x400-metre relay at the World University Games held earlier this month in Kazan, Russia.
