Five graduates of The Writer's Studio are reaping praise this spring. Shana Myara beat out 300 entries to win the international PRISM fiction contest for her short story, Remainders. Myara (2006) credits The Writer’s Studio for building a community of writers to draw on for support. Harper Collins has just published Ayelet Tsabari’s (2007) first book of short stories, The Best Place on Earth, to great acclaim. She credits the program for helping her overcome a decade-long writing block and giving her “the courage to call myself a writer and pursue writing as a career." Talon Books will publish 2011 Wanda John-Kehewin’s (2011) book of poetry, In the Dog House, this month. Musa Publishing has just released New Girl by grad Joan Flood. And HarperCollins/William Morrow has picked up Three Souls by alumna Janie Chang. http://at.sfu.ca/alvXHW
