In San Rafael, CA, the Simon Fraser University Clan volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season on Sept. 11, falling 3-0 to the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (FPU).

SFU got off to a strong start taking 10-5 lead in the first set before a tactical timeout by FPU slowed the Clan's momentum.

Fresno began their comeback, as a back and forth affair ensued.

The teams traded points until late in the set, when FPU was able to pull ahead for a 25-22 victory.

Fresno kept up the momentum, taking an early lead in the second set, but the Clan were not deterred, battling back to tie 24-24, ultimately falling by two.

The Clan were unable to force a comeback in the third set falling 25-17.

Kelsey Robinson had eight kills on the night while Madeline Hait added six in her first game of the season.

Danielle Curtis had 15 assists and eight digs in the match.

The loss brings the Clan's 2014 record to 4-1 on the season, all from non-conference play.
