A $20,000 scholarship has been established in honour of Pat Hibbitts, SFU’s former vice-president of finance and administration, who passed away unexpectedly this past June.

The Pat Hibbitts Scholarship, established by the Great Northern Way Campus Trust (GNW Trust), will be awarded annually in the fall term to one incoming female student in the Master of Digital Media program at the Centre for Digital Media, who has chosen to undergo a career change.

The GNW Trust approved the scholarship’s creation to recognize the support and leadership Pat Hibbitts provided as SFU’s vp finance and administration as well as her role as a founding member of the GNW Trust.

The Trust, which is jointly owned by SFU, UBC, BCIT and the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, is responsible for operating the Centre of Digital Media and revitalizing the False Creek Flats land parcel it sits on.
