The future of Simon Fraser University’s iconic Burnaby campus is beginning to take shape and planners are excited to share the emerging vision and get feedback to further refine the plan.

SFU Campus Planning & Development has been working for the past year on the SFU Burnaby 2065 Campus Master Plan. The developing blueprint will provide a planning framework to guide how the campus will look over the next half century.

“Throughout earlier phases of engagement, the SFU community and other key stakeholders provided valuable input that has helped shape an emerging vision and draft guiding principles for the campus master plan,” says Elizabeth Starr, campus planner and project manager of the SFU Burnaby 2065 Master Plan.

The plan also supports SFU’s goals to create a sustainable, world-class, academic and community experience. Based on best practices and feedback from a wide variety of stakeholders, the planning team is exploring ideas around future land use, mobility and transportation, open spaces and landscapes, buildings and infrastructure across the campus.

“We’re now ready to share our progress and welcome the campus community and other stakeholders to give us their feedback on the emerging vision, guiding principles and physical direction of the campus master plan.”

On April 4th, the SFU community and other stakeholders are invited to an open house to learn about the planning to date, to ask questions and to provide feedback for the emerging directions of the SFU Burnaby 2065 Campus Master Plan. The open house will be held at Saywell Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m.
