Types of Fees
There are three types of fees:
- SFU Application Fee
- Admission Deposit for New Students
- Course Tuition Fees

1. SFU Application Fee
An application fee is required each time you apply for admission or readmission to SFU. Application fees are non-refundable and not applicable to tuition fees. They must accompany your application for admission or be paid soon after making an application.
The preferred method of payment for application fees is by credit card. You can use your credit card online by logging in to SIS with your user ID and password.
The application fee is $45 if your academic records originate entirely within BC, or $100 if they originate entirely or partly outside BC.
2. Admission Deposit for New Students
To confirm acceptance of SFU's offer of admission, new undergraduate students must pay a non-refundable admission deposit of $250. This deposit is not an additional fee; we will apply it to the cost of tuition.
You must pay your admission deposit by the deadline specified in your offer of admission letter. To pay in SIS, click on “Make a Payment” under Finances in your Student Center.
3. Course Tuition Fees
All SFU NOW courses are regular SFU undergraduate courses. Therefore, tuition and ancillary fees are the same as for any other offering of the same course. See SFU Undergraduate Fees for detailed information.
Pay your tuition fees in SIS by clicking on “Make a Payment” under Finances in your Student Center. You may submit payment by any of these methods.

Payment Methods
You may pay your SFU fees by any of the following methods:
- Through online or telephone banking
- In person at SFU campuses (cash, cheque, money order, debit card)
- By mail (cheque, money order).

Always provide your SFU student number with all financial transactions. Your student number is the only account reference the university uses, so it is important to include this information.
If you are paying by cheque, please make it payable to Simon Fraser University and print your SFU student number clearly on the front. Please allow five working days for a cheque payment to be processed. There is a $25 administrative handling fee for all returned cheques.
1. Paying by Online or Telephone Banking
If you are using online banking to pay your fees, set up SFU as a bill payee on your account. Use your SFU student number as the account/invoice/billing number. Note: Some banking institutions require 10 digits for the student/billing number. In this case, add a zero to the beginning of your student number.
If you pay by online banking, please allow two to three business days for your deposit to be processed before you enrol in classes.

Important Details
Checking Your Account
All of your account information is available in SIS in your Student Center, under Finances > Account Summary. Show more
A change to any part of your enrolment will affect your student account balance. SFU’s computer system recalculates your fees as you add, drop or make other changes to your courses. This new balance is calculated within several business hours and will be available the next day.
Please make sure you view your student account after you have enrolled and/or made any class changes, and check your account balance before paying your fees. Class drop penalties are calculated and posted to your student account in the third week of classes.

Penalty on Outstanding Tuition and Fees
You must pay your fees in full by the due date for each semester, usually the second Friday of the semester. Show more
If you have not paid your fees by the last day of the sixth week of classes, you will be assessed a penalty on the outstanding amount. This penalty is 2 percent monthly or 24 percent per annum, regardless of pending scholarships, bursaries, awards, tuition waivers or school associate certificates.
While you have outstanding fees, you cannot enrol in subsequent terms, and other sanctions will be applied.

T2202A forms for claiming tuition in your tax deductions are available through SIS under Campus Finances in Self Service, or under Finances in your Student Center. Click here for tax information.
