What is SIAT?
SIAT is the School of Interactive Arts & Technology, at Simon Fraser University. We focus on the creative development of digital technologies and the people who use them. Are you interested in creating stories? We can develop your drawing and still photography hobby into an interactive film making practice. Interested in impactful ideas? We can help you design and develop new digital products for the communities and cultures that matter to you. Interested in social engagement? We invite you to join our active student community and our industry network.
If you are interested in programming, art and design, SIAT may be a good fit for you. Take a look at some of our most recent undergraduate stories to better understand SIAT:
This fall, undergraduate students taking the Interaction Design Methods (IAT-333) course will be learning from some of the world’s best, including Scott Davidoff, the human interfaces design manager for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Why join SIAT?
SIAT is more than an art school. It’s a program about ideas and the creative ways we can use art, design and technology to understand and solve problems. SIAT is interdisciplinary. That means your course work combines art, design, social science, and computer science so you develop a unique blend of thinking and creative skills that our co-op employers and industry partners have come to appreciate:
"The SIAT student skill set is top notch. They consistently put out quality work and are proficient in many aspects of videography, photography, design, and web development. They are great communicators and responsible enough to handle important tasks by themselves."
"Reliable and responsible students that understand the different aspects of a product as a user, developer, and manager. This makes SIAT students a good fit for leading design projects."
