Peak clipping is an
error in an analog audio signal where peaks are
cut off and the waveform is distorted in a flattening
out of the peak value. The equivalent in digital audio is somewhat different, when samples over the maximum positive value become represented as the maximum negative value. Both versions are caused by a signal level that is too high, even though the digital result may be different. |
