REEL 15 C0MMENTARY

1. Bad hum at beginning. Mrs. Peters present as well. Topics of interview are the sound of: Grand Falls where Mrs. Peters grew up: paper mill (3'15"); papermill whistles (4'45"-9'00"), description, imitation and its role in community; sleighs (10'55"); sleighrunners on snow (11'50"), horses breathing, sleighbells; snowmobiles (14'00"); putt-putt boats in the distance (16'10"); snow (17'00"-19'00"); sounds that give you goosebumps: fingernails on blackboard (20'00"); dentist's drill (21'10"); moozak (21'45").

2. Accents in Australia.

3. Foghorn (2'05") goes off 2 blasts every minute. Powerful one-tone blast with long reverberation disappearing in distance. Beautiful strong sound. Distant train whistle (3'30"). Note in background ropes clanking against masts of boats during gusts of wind. Otherwise very quiet ambience.
