REEL 91 COMMENTARY

1/2. Continued from reel 90. This is the lead refinery casting wheel area, very loud compressed air bursts. Loud, violent, sudden bursts with low rumble underneath. Interesting rhythms, pitches, hisses and squeals. Take 2 has louder levels. Watch your ears!

3. Silver furnace roaring. Rich, broadband spectrum.

4. Interference starts at 30". Interesting development in rhythm of static pattern, goes on throughout whole take. No other radio sounds, very irritating.

5. The smelter is 3/4 mile away, but very predominant. Hardly any other local sounds.

6/7. Sleepy little mill. Microphones were on slope overlooking the place from road. Everything sounds very distant: "breathing" noise of machinery, on and off. Carrier or forklift in the background.

8. At 0'16" Bang! Note the quiet after blast. Blast doesn't sound as spectacular as expected.
