COMMENTARY

1. Singing with organ accompaniment. Congregation always half a beat behind organ (note modal structure of hymn).

3 - 8. Sermon on the story of Abraham (excerpts only) no complete hymn in takes 1 to 8.

10. Note that the bell sounds just as the congregation recites the Lord's Prayer. People sitting down with lots of noise, then beginning of a hymn.

12. Kids enter the church hall, drop coins in glass bowl, and lots of talking. Mark #2; children sing in response to the priest - alternation between the two; note how one child sings harmony to the priest's melody. Prayer follows. Singing without organ accompaniment. Children are singing and speaking alot in response to priest. A more lively atmosphere than in service before. Kids leaving church with a racket. Distinctive transition of ambience as recordist leaves church, with rooster crowing, village ambience, Peter saying, "this is a nice take".
