COMMENTARY

2,3. Take 3 is the better example. The castle is partly in ruins; this courtyard (about 35' X 20') had all 4 walls standing, but was open at the roof (some 30' - 40' above ground). The wind was very strong at the time, gusting to 60-70 mph. Occasionally, it creates a whistling sound, with fluctuating pitch; otherwise rustle of foliage.

4,5. Attempt to record the pattern made by the loosely-fitting door to the church as it rattled in the wind. Second take in this section best.

8. The clattering sound is made by the chain on the horn, clanking against it. This is a South African buffalo horn.

9. Horn is blown in quiet ambience.

10. Talking about the effect of the wind on the sound of the horn.
