COMMENTARY

1. "Tenor" caller can be heard and understood very distinctly, good rhythms.

2. Caller has lower voice and less of an edge in it, thus penetrates less through the ambience.

3. This caller has a very nasal voice and comes closer to chanting than the above ones.

4. There is more of an obvious exchange between caller and buyers, possibly because there are fewer people in this room. Pigs scream fearfully in intervals.

5. Note switch on/switch off!

12. Ticking of clock in very quiet ambience, until recordists begin to yawn and sniff and cough and talk.

16. This will no longer grind anything; it is kept in working condition, however, i.e. these sounds are of the machinery moving, but under no load. Note the constant change in tempo of waterwheel rhythm. The wheel's mechanism inside makes a wooden muted clatter, rhythmic and not obnoxious. (See details on mill and its history also on data sheet).

Cont'd on Reel 80.
