REEL 26 COMMENTARY

1. A short take at the poolside, whales blowing sounds, no people, drill sound from construction at a distance.

2. People waiting for killer whale show to start, whales swimming and blowing. Sounds are clear, good focus until the end of show.

1'00" loud blow noise, amused reaction of people.

4'45" distant vocal sound.

6'25" p.a. voice, announcing whales' lunch feed.

7'40" loud blow noise, close voices.

8'35" amused reaction to something that's not audible.

*10'00" show begins, water noise increases.

11'25" vocal sound from whale.

12'00" breaching (jumping out of the water).

*12'55" high squeal sounds, like a child, from whale or dolphin.

3. Killer whale show continues to end. Recordist then moves to other areas. Opens with loud vocal sounds, beautiful!

0'40" tail flapping.

1'05" tail flapping.

2'00" vocal sound from whale (groan).

*4'30" trainer's whistle.

4'50" trainer's whistle.

4'55" crowd "ooh" and applause.

5'05" show ends.

6'15" walking away from killer whale pool, moving to Beluga whale pool.

*8'10" loud whale honk.

9'10" walking inside, then outside again.

10'00" child's running footsteps.

10'30" jet overhead, recordist moves through zoo area.

10'45" loud squawk of parrot.

11'00" loud squawk of parrot, great!

*12'45" pigeons cooing.

13'30" pigeons cooing, louder.

14'50" geese noises (low honking).
