REEL 31 COMMENTARY

The sounds in all these takes are of disused machinery (i.e., empty butter churn, vacuum cleaner cleaning nothing, etc.), so they are not exactly heard in the way they normally would function. However, they are quite interesting in themselves as textures. Recordists are searching for sounds, conversation with guy on-going throughout. Recordist always announcing what is being recorded.
