REEL 68 COMMENTARY

1. Waiting for Hydro noon horn. Opens with field worker chat, wind on microphones.

0'50" shift whistle, marsh birds and geese in background.

2. Very peaceful and quiet. Mostly wind blowing through reeds, nice rhythm. Some marsh birds.

3'50" distant plane.

5'05" wind gusts continually to end of take. Wind on microphones occasionally.

3. Funny, very high voiced sheep and one very low one.

1'00" monstrous truck blitzes by the sheep yard, doesn't seem to phase the sheep though!

4. Walking inside to baggage area downstairs. Although the recordists were moving through space here, this is not audible the acoustic space is very diffused and unclear.

1'00" under high frequency oscillation sound of the closed circuit TV monitors. A very reverberant space.

3'25" barely audible background music.

5. outside, moving inside, not great.

6. Outside on observation deck: two small jets warming up. If you hate jets, you will really hate this: very high frequency pitch, very noisy.

*3'25" JAL (Japanese Airlines) jet landing? Very loud, or one of the small jets taxiing off, mid and higher frequency range.

5'10" heavily masked p.a. announcement.

5'20" incoming jet cuts engines.

7. Opens by check-in counter, ticket stamping and baggage marking. Moozak in background.

2'40" "Whaddya got here, stereo?"

*3'30" buzzing sound -- turns out to be a child's toy, the recordist follows it.

4'10" "What's that?"

5'00" p.a. announcement.
