Psychoacoustics / Electroacoustics
In the perception of ACOUSTIC SPACE, azimuth refers to the direction or angular displacement of a sound in the horizontal plane.
See: BINAURAL HEARING, KUNSTKOPF, MINIMUM AUDIBLE ANGLE. Compare: PROJICIENCE, STEREOACUSIS.
In TAPE RECORDING, the term also refers to the alignment of a recording or playback head such that it is in uniform contact with tape passing over it. See diagram under MAGNETIC TAPE.
