Jockey Club Smart Aging Hub Opening Ceremony and Symposium
Dr. Andrew Sixsmith was asked to present as keynote speaker at the Jockey Club Smart Aging Hub Opening Ceremony and Symposium on October 27, 2018. The Jockey Club Smart Aging Hub Opening Ceremony and Symposium is a five-year project launched by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University out of the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
This Aging Hub has been supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club with a donation of HKD47.9M in August 2017, and the project officially began on December 1, 2017. Its aim is to provide a bridge between different stakeholders for achieving smart aging, including elderly people, their family members and caregivers, service providers, technology developers, students and youngers, industries, government officers, etc. A day center and virtual library about available smart aging technologies and its latest development are currently being established in the Jockey Club Rehabilitation Engineering Center, and real demonstration sites will be established in 6 NGOs, which have been taking care of elderly with different conditions.
Dr. Sixsmith took part in Session 1 - A Global Concern - Aging Population: Gerontechnology Concepts and Solutions Accross Different Cities (Canada) and presented on Technology and the Worldwide Challenge of Aging.
