New Aging in Place Challenge Program
The National Research Council Canada (NRC) is launching a new challenge program in the area of Aging in Place. This is a good opportunity for SFU researchers working in the AgeTech field to develop partnerships and collaborations.
The Aging in Place Challenge program will support a sustainable model for long-term care by shifting the focus toward preventive home and community-based care. The program's objectives will focus on improving the quality of life of older adults and their personal caregivers through innovation that will support safe and healthy aging. The aim is to enable nursing homes to concentrate on older adults with the highest needs while reducing costs to the Canadian health care system. Challenge Program objective: a 20% decrease in the number of older adults who require nursing home care across Canada by 2031.
The program is currently engaging with stakeholders on its areas of focus and is planned for launch in spring 2021. For more details, click here.
