Starry Nights @ SFU: Astro Grads!
An Evening for Families - Saturday December 10 2011

Well over 200 people - all families with young kids - came all the way up to Burnaby Mountain on a Saturday evening for an astronomy workshop! We started at 7PM and finished up by about 8:30. What a blast! But I was having so much fun, I forgot to take any pictures or video during the activities! All I managed was the following jittery video that I captured of some of our guests (including a few of the families who earned scopes tonight!) on their way out - by this time, most had already left :(. I even forgot to take pictures of the eight families who earned their telescopes tonight! In no particular order, they were: Henry Su and family, Tracy McRae and family, Ian and Scott Hansen, Manny Pereira and family, Steve Meighan with his son and daugher, Joanne Helsop and family, Alan Cheung and family, and Paul Dayson and family! I owe a huge THANK YOU to my friends and colleagues who volunteered to help with this big undertaking: Terry McComas, Ronan and Scott Kerr, Ted Allen, Steve Meighan, Yiwei Wei, Tom Wintschel, Shamil Harjee, Rohit Grover, Michelle Murvai, Jun-Qi Guo .. and I just know that I'm missing someone - Egads, how awful - if that's you, please let me know!
